About Us
" Our flagship is a creative agricultural business that helps corporations achieve their smallholder sustainable ambitions. We do this by reaching out to the future generations through creative storytelling that documents the reality on the ground in the places we venture. "
About Us
A couple of months ago we realized that whilst we drink a lot of coffee and regularly worked at cafe's, we didn't actually know where our coffee truly came from. We wanted to know more about the coffee we were buying, so we approached Jacobs Douwe Egberts, the second largest coffee producer in the world. We had many questions, yet some remained unanswered.
Instead of giving us all the answers, they decided to send us to Uganda, to answer them for ourselves. Believing that if we had these questions, other consumers like yourself would have them too.
This apparent disconnect between the supply and demand of global coffee production lead to the founding of Marula, with the aim of sharing our findings with you and the world.
About Marula
Marula is an independent media and consultancy business. We advise agribusinesses who work with local producers in order to better contribute to the progress of these local communities and to assess their sustainable activities on the ground.
It is our mission to tackle the pressing questions that millennials have about the sustainability challenges surrounding the supply chains of agricultural consumer products. We wish to transform these questions into relevant, trustworthy and impactful content to empower the disconnected farmer to the disconnected consumer.
For our first project, we are partnering with the Global Coffee & Tea company Jacobs Douwe Egberts, to document the sustainability progress and issues that exist within Uganda's coffee supply chain.
